Red Clover Rovers

Bill Powers Memorial Firecracker 4-Miler

Because Brattleboro has again canceled July 4th events, this year's race will again be a free virtual event. Participants can use the fun run course on Upper Dummerston Rd., which has been extended to 4 miles, or they can run or walk at a location of their choosing any time from June 28 to July 4.

Although there's no entry fee, participants need to register online if you wish to be included in the results. You can submit your time on the RunSignUp results page, just like we've been doing for the fun run series, or you can email your time and info (name, age, hometown) to

Also, participants are encouraged to make a donation to Special Olympics Vermont or the Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro.

When you register, you'll receive a confirmation email that includes a link where you can print a virtual bib. Participants are encouraged to print their bib, and send a picture after you've finished to the RCR Facebook page.

Virtual Fun Run Series

The Red Clover Rovers running club announces the 2021 Fun Run season. While we will not gather as a group for this biweekly event, participants are encouraged to run the course on their own, practicing social distancing on any day, at any time during the Fun Run week.

As in past years, the course is an out-and-back 1-, 2- or 3-mile route on Upper Dummerston Road or a 2.4-mile trail run on the Brattleboro Retreat Trails. All runs begin and end near the entrance of the Brattleboro Country Club. Start/finish line and turnaround points have been marked.

Every two weeks, beginning Monday, April 26, runners may complete the course on any day or time during that week. We encourage everyone to preregister by going to You can choose the series bundle to register for all 10 weeks at one time, even if you're not planning to run every single week. Record your own time, and submit your results to RunSignUp either by text message or by using a web form (you'll receive instructions after you register). You also can send your results to RCR volunteer Bob Aube ( no later than 5 p.m. on the Sunday at the end of the Fun Run week. Please send your name, age, town of residence, race distance, and your time. Results will be posted here, as well as on the RCR Facebook page and the new RCR website, and also sent to the Brattleboro Reformer.

Traditionally, home-made cookies await all finishers and volunteers. Please feel free to post a picture of yourself on the RCR Facebook page enjoying a finish-line treat.

It is our hope that the last Fun Run, the week of Aug. 30, will be held in person (fingers crossed!). The Fun Run schedule includes the weeks of: April 26, May 10, May 24, June 7, June 21, July 5, July 19, Aug. 2, Aug. 16 and Aug. 30.
