Don Maynard Memorial 5-Miler

This year's event is a free virtual run, but donations are encouraged. In Don’s memory, proceeds go to the Don Maynard Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to graduating Franklin County public school seniors.

Unlike many virtual races in which participants can complete the distance at any location, participants in this event are asked to run the actual race course -- a flat and scenic route through the Greenfield Meadows.

The course begins by the Green River on Nash's Mill Road in Greenfield and continues through the “meadows”, then loops around toward Greenfield Community College. The course finishes with the last mile on the new Greenfield bike path, again along the Green River.

Walkers will walk a 3-mile loop of the bike path.

Be sure to take a dip in the river to cool off afterward!

Virtual Fun Run Series

The Red Clover Rovers running club announces the 2020 Fun Run season. While we will not gather as a group for this biweekly event, participants are encouraged to run the course on their own, practicing social distancing on any day, at any time during the Fun Run week.

As in past years, the course is an out-and-back 1-, 2- or 3-mile route on Upper Dummerston Road or a 2.4-mile trail run on the Brattleboro Retreat Trails. All runs begin and end near the entrance of the Brattleboro Country Club. Start/finish line and turnaround points have been marked.

Every two weeks, beginning Monday, April 27, runners may complete the course on any day or time during that week. We encourage everyone to preregister by going to RunSignUp.com. You can choose the series bundle to register for all 10 weeks at one time, even if you're not planning to run every single week. Record your own time, and submit your results to RunSignUp either by text message or by using a web form (you'll receive instructions after you register). You also can send your results to RCR volunteer Bob Aube (bobaube@mainetrackclub.com) no later than 5 p.m. on the Sunday at the end of the Fun Run week. Please send your name, age, town of residence, race distance, and your time. Results will be posted here, as well as on the RCR Facebook page and the new RCR website, and also sent to the Brattleboro Reformer.

Traditionally, home-made cookies await all finishers and volunteers. Please feel free to post a picture of yourself on the RCR Facebook page enjoying a finish-line treat.

It is our hope that the last Fun Run, the week of Aug. 31, will be held in person (fingers crossed!). The Fun Run schedule includes the weeks of: April 27, May 11, May 25, June 8, June 22, July 6, July 21, Aug. 3, Aug. 17 and Aug. 31.
